Pontypridd Gathers for Remembrance Sunday Tribute

Pontypridd Gathers for Remembrance Sunday Tribute

As the leaves fall and November approaches, Pontypridd prepares to honour its heroes with the annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service. This poignant event, set for 8 November at Ynysangharad War Memorial Park, is a heartfelt tribute to the British service members who have made the ultimate sacrifice in wars and military conflicts since World War I.

Residents from across Rhondda Cynon Taf are warmly invited to join this significant occasion. The parade will commence at 10:35am, featuring participants from various community and military organisations. Together, they will march to the War Memorial, where a solemn service led by Reverend Charlotte Rushton of St Catherine’s Church will begin at 11am. This service provides a moment for collective prayer, reflection, and a two-minute silence to honour the fallen.

Organised in partnership with Pontypridd Town Council, the event underscores the community’s unwavering support for the Armed Forces. Rhondda Cynon Taf takes pride in its Armed Forces Covenant, which actively supports both serving and retired members of the Armed Forces Community.

Additionally, the Armed Forces team in Rhondda Cynon Taf is dedicated to preserving the memory of those who served, regularly assisting with war grave cleaning in collaboration with Valleys Veterans and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Volunteers are always welcome to join this noble cause. For those interested in contributing, more information can be found at www.valleyveterans.org.

This Remembrance Sunday, come together with your community to honour the courage and sacrifice of our service members. And if you’re considering making Pontypridd your home, we at James Douglas are here to help you find a place where community spirit truly thrives.
