The busiest month for ten years for the housing market – August 2020
Rightmove have revealed their House Price Index which portrays a national picture of house prices and activity over the past few weeks and this was their main findings:
- Post lockdown has created a mini-boom, following pent-up demand that is usually during the summer holidays
- Since Rightmove started tracking data ten years ago, it has been a record-breaking month for the number of sales with a value of over £37 billion.
- Recorded the highest number of properties coming to the market in a month since March 2008.
- There are 44% more properties coming to market compared to the same period a year ago, though there are considerable regional variations.
More specifically, in Wales, the average house price in Wales is £212,800 which is a monthly change of 2.9% and an annual change of 5.8%.
